Glen Coe

I like them on their own, but more than that I feel they belong together. The question is how. They don’t ‘fit’, obviously, not in any way. They collide, deceive, feel as much ‘wrong’ as they feel right.

It already feels like a sort of tradition to start with a relatively easy walk in Glen Coe. We park the car by the road side, jump into one of its vast valleys with their elegant slopes, and just follow the creek and keep walking, until at some arbitrary point we agree to turn around and walk back to the car. A rather uneventful trail, through a beautiful but monotonous stretch of grassy hills and stones. But somehow it’s exactly right for a first walk, to get used to the hiking boots, test the legs, and look forward to things to come. No need to worry about navigation, or unexpected obstacles, all one needs to do is put one feet in front of the other.
